Hello, guys! Today i am going to tell you a meaning of a song. The song that i chose is "A Change Of Heart" by The 1975 from the album "i like it when you sleep for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it". by the way this band is going to jakarta on august! I'm so excited but i havent got a chance to go and see them.

A Change of Heart” details the stages of falling out of love with someone. When the infatuation fades, you see them for who they truly are, and not who you thought they were.
It premiered on February 22nd, 2016 during Annie Mac’s Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1. Drummer George Daniel defined the “narrative” song as being by far “the most simple song” on their sophomore record. Frontman Matty Healy described it as a “pure ballad”:
It’s such a simple song – three notes – and the truth. We wanted it to [have] serious conviction. It turned into a very atypical “1975” song, being very sentimental, very self-aware, and as beautiful as we can make it.
The song incorporates concepts and lyrics from three older tracks by The 1975“The City,”“Robbers,” and “Sex.” The official lyrics were confirmed through the band’s Twitter.
Here's are the lyrics :
Are we awake?
Am I too old to be this stoned?
Was it your breasts from the start?
They played a part

For goodness sake
I wasn't told you'd be this cold
Now it's my time to depart
And I just had a change of heart

I'll quote "on the road" like a twat
And wind my way out of the city
Finding a girl who is equally pretty won't be hard
Oh, I just had a change of heart

[Instrumental Interlude]

You smashed a glass into pieces
That's around the time I left
And you were coming across as clever
Then you lit the wrong end of your cigarette

You said I'm full of diseases
Your eyes were full of regret
And then you took a picture of your salad
And put it on the Internet

And she said, "I've been so worried about you lately
You look shit and smell a bit"
You're mad thinking you could ever save me
Not looking like that

You used to have a face straight out of a magazine
Now you just look like anyone
I just had a change of heart

I feel as though I was deceived
I never found love in the city
I just sat in self-pity and cried in the car
Oh I just had a change of heart

Then she said, "I've been so worried 'bout you lately
You were fit but you're losing it
You played a part, 'this is how it starts'"
Oh I just had a change of heart

I just had a change of heart
I just had a change of heart
I just had a change of heart
Oh I just had a change of heart
I just had a change of heart
I just had a change of heart
I just had a change of heart
I just had a change of heart

[FYI Matty is the vocalist of The 1975]
The meaning :

Are we awake?Am I too old to be this stoned?

At the age of twenty-six, Matty is well into adulthood and is moving past the person he was when he was younger.
Matty enjoys cannabis and even wrote a song (“Chocolate”) about it. He’s aware the drug has become apart of his band’s image and questions if they’ve outgrown this phase of their lives.
The stereotypical pot smoker is a young person who can’t afford to be slacking off and getting incredibly stoned. This leaves Matty thinking that he must leave his stoner days behind to be considered a fully grown and reputable individual.
Was it your breasts from the start?
They played a part
Matty admits that from the very beginning of their relationship, the physical attributes of the girl he’s seeing played a part in his desire to be with her.
However, now that he no longer views her in the same light, her looks have ceased to matter – hischange of heart has led him to realize that the beauty she holds externally does not at all match her internally.
For goodness sake
I wasn't told you'd be this cold
Now it's my time to depart
As The 1975’s 2013 track “Settle Down” showed us, this wouldn’t be the first time Matty has encountered a “cold” partner:
His change of heart led him to be aware of her true chilly personality, which he previously overlooked. He takes this as a sign that their relationship is about to hit closing time, and decides that simply leaving would be best.
Oh, I just had a change of heart (same for the other lines)
To have a “change of heart” is to move to a different opinion or attitude. The content of the song suggests that Matty has begun to notice the flaws within the girl he’s seeing. Her unkind statements and the belief that she is in some way his savior, have caused him to look at her in such a negative light that he views her as average.
As the phrase is repeated constantly throughout the song, Matty has stated before that he uses repetition within lyrics (such as in “Me,”“Robbers,” and “Sex”) to hint at the meaning of the song.
She’s no longer what he wants, and he feels tha the was deceived into believing she ever was.
I'll quote "on the road" like a twat
And wind my way out of the city
Finding a girl who is equally pretty won't be hard
This implies that Matty is running away from a beloved city, most likely his home town, in search of something to fill his emptiness—a good-looking girl whose presence can overshadow what the city has to offer.
Artist David Templeton, who once gave Matty a copy of Jack Kerouac’s “On The Road” knew that the origin of the bands name was inspired by snippets of writing in the back of a Kerouac poetry book dated “1 June, The 1975”. Taking shots at twats for quoting Kerouac is a humorous way of derisively referring to his own band.
You smashed a glass into pieces
That's around the time I left
And you were coming across as clever
Then you lit the wrong end of your cigarette
Its exactly what it says (duh)
You said I'm full of diseases
Your eyes were full of regret
During an argument, she attempted to insult Matty by saying he was diseased – more than likely referring to an STD and implying that he had been promiscuous in the past. Although Matty himself has acknowledged behavior like this in songs such as “Sex,” her use of it as a weapon crosses the line and she immediately regrets the outburst.
Alternatively, she could be targeting his inner demons, calling him out on past troubles and traumas, such as his drug addictions and other destructive tendencies.
However, because she’s too proud to admit she was wrong, she continues on without an apology which only further damages their already ailing relationship.
And then you took a picture of your salad
And put it on the Internet
Following the girl’s inability to admit she was wrong by insulting Matty, she attempted to avoid the confrontation by taking a photo of her meal and posting it on social media. As “Love Me” suggests, Matty dislikes this.
This lyric also fuels the rumor that “A Change of Heart” is rooted within Matty’s relationship with his now ex-girlfriend, Gemma Janes. During the time period that their relationship was reportedly terminated, she posted a photo of her salad on Instagram.
In an interview with Liz Joyce, Matty said:
I’m off the grid, I’ve gone, I’ve disappeared, I don’t deal with it anymore. That’s what I wanna get tattooed on my chest: OTG forever
And she said, "I've been so worried about you lately
You look shit and smell a bit"
You're mad thinking you could ever save me
Not looking like that

The narrators increasingly estranged relationship with reality is interrupting their basic personal hygiene and causing worry among those close to them. They conceded that in order to accept assistance from another, they must be self-reflexive and truly understand the narrators internal struggles.

You used to have a face straight out of a magazine
Now you just look like anyone

A throwback to one of the band’s most iconic songs, “Robbers”:
As well as a similar lyric in “She Way Out”:
From Matty’s view, she was as beautiful as models presented in magazines, but now that they’ve reached a point in their relationship that’s more raw and honest, he’s begun to take notice of her dumb habitsunkind words, and addiction to social media.
Matty’s perspective has now changed—the girl that had once been unrivaled amongst the many in his eyes has now faded in with everyone else.
I feel as though I was deceived
I never found love in the city
I just sat in self-pity and cried in the car
A play on the popular chorus from one of their older songs, “The City”:
The hope for finding love that Matty previously held has deteriorated, as he realized during his change of heart that he did not, in fact, find a reallove in the city.
The lyric channels the fragile, vulnerable emotions pouring out of him as he sits in solitude, pitying himself for thinking he had found something real with someone who was completely different.
Then she said, "I've been so worried 'bout you lately
You were fit but you're losing it
You played a part, 'this is how it starts'"
Already filled to the brim with lyrical throwbacksto tracks off of their debut album, The 1975, one more is added before the song closes – “Sex”opens with similar lines
The integration of lyrics from older songs could be meant emphasize the changes that have occurred, including the band’s image change—the old lyrics (and thus, old feelings) are contrasted against the new.
The girl Matty’s been seeing has noticed a difference in his behavior due to his “change of heart,” most likely occurring after he realized that the love he’d found in the city with her wasn’t truly real.
[Conclusion]
For me, this song is the feeling you got when you have an opposite gender-friend but she's very close to you. it was all fun and game until one of them falls in love. sometimes it became harder. sometimes even the girl want to keep away from you. this is all the stage of falling in love.

Education to build a better future for all

Education is a very important thing in our world. It affects everything. It affects us, other people, our future, mostly our lives are affected by education. We cant live without education. We need it since we were born and raised in this world. There’s this one quote I’ve seen and it is one of the greatest quotes about education, it is “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid” – Albert Einstein
So, one of the biggest problems in our education especially Indonesia, is that all people should take the same subjects. Which is around 14 subjects. According to the quote I’ve mentioned before, you can’t judge people just by one ability (in this case a subject). You cant judge people just by one subject, you cant just tell a person is stupid just because that person is bad at math? What if he/she actually has an ability that is so amazing? What if he/she is good at sport? Or art? But the person never facilitated on their talents? That’s why you cant force people to do what the person’s not good at.
In Indonesia, you need to study like around 14 subjects. Which means a lot of our times are spend at school. At subjects we are good at, and subjects that we don’t even want to study about it. Our intelligence were just rated by a test at some subjects. Back to the quote above “it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid” what actually happened when a person live his/her life believing that he/she is stupid is the person got stressed. Stressed could make a student do bad things, start from behaving bad to parent, do forbidden things like smoking, drinking, etc. but when all of the bad things happen, lots of people blamed the students. It is actually his/her fault, but not all of it was the person’s fault. that’s why it is wrong to force student to study a subject that the person isn’t good at.
To make a good student, a student should know their own talent and ability. After knowing their talent, school should divide them into classes they’re good at. this make the student more confident, and even give the student a lot more intention in studying. Which cause the student to be more intelligent in his/her subject. But that doesn’t mean that students don’t need to study other subject. It still needs to be balanced by other subject such as moral and life lessons. Because there’s this other quote “a world is not destroyed by bad people, it caused by the good people who are letting bad people do it” so a lot of intelligent people actually bad too. Not because they’re not smart, but because they don’t have morals. The government is actually a bunch of smart people, right? But why does a lot of government commit crime? It’s because they don’t have morals.
